We are now very excited to announce we have passed the second round of Dental Practice Accreditation!
What is Dental Practice Accreditation?
Dental Practice Accreditation is a means of testing how compliant our systems and procedures are, with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. It means we check, test, change or implement any systems or procedure required to ensure patient safety.
Dental Practice Accreditation means:
•We improve the day to day organisation within our practice
•It measures the effectiveness of changes within our practice
•It reduces the risk of incidents
•You are visiting a quality dentist with your safety as our priority.
This is not easy to pass and requires many hours of reviewing and checking! But you can be confident that we are compliant with the National Health Standards and the many government regulations in place to ensure your safety.

In their words: Achieving accreditation demonstrates a commitment to the provision of excellent dental care and continuous quality improvement within the practice environment.
Leichhardt Street Dental Practice is an Accredited Dental Practice. This is a great achievement for our team and a reflection of our quality, innovation and performance.
What exactly is Practice Accreditation?
There are many rules, guidelines and recommendations that we all follow as Dental Practices. Some of these are mandatory and others are simply advisable but not mandatory. Queensland health may check on practices to ensure they are following the rules, but there is no formal process of checking on dental practices. To address this issue, the Government is working towards introducing Dental Practice Accreditation as a mandatory requirement to operate as a Dental Practice. This will ensure practices are following the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
As part of this, the Australian Dental Association has asked for early adopters of the accreditation scheme. As a practice we were happy to be an early adopter, and have recently passed our first mid-cycle review, ensuring we continue with ongoing compliance against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. As part of our compliance we continue to seek any feedback you may have regarding our practice and have available a Charter of Patient Rights Policy which outlines how we operate. We are proud of our practice, so please ask for a feedback form or have a tour of our practice next time you visit.
Leichhardt Street Dental Practice recognises the importance of improving quality of care by responding to the needs and preferences of you our patients.
We value feedback from patients and carers on information and services provided by the practice, and have implemented a valid and reliable process to partner with our patients. As part of this please ask for a client feedback form so we can gather information to evaluate our health service performance, and make improvements where necessary.
It is important to us that we are always up to date with the latest standards and guidelines expected of us as a health care facility and you can be assured that our infection control processes are very precise and our staff are highly trained in our protocols.
Please also ask for our Patient Charter of Rights when you next visit our practice. This is also readily available from reception.
